So Long

To the rising sun I bid farewell,
To the evanescent skies,
To the golden hint of peppermint,
That sugar coats my eyes,

To the leaves of silk and silver,
To the branches neatly crossed,
To the oak and pine and country wine,
That drifts off with the frost,

To the ocean foam and sea spray,
To the otherworldly winds,
To the sweet decree of strawberries,
That kiss to say I’ve sinned,

To the hair that flows in rivers,
To the hands that hold me strong,
To the pretty heart from which I part,
So long, my love, so long
